DECEMBER 2025

Dec. 6th Capital City Grange, 4:30 PM Grange meeting, then at 5:00, a free Community Program, a presentation by Clark Amadon, president of the MadDog Chapter of Trout Unlimited, talking about their work preserving and improving rivers and streams, and providing fishing programs for kids and adults. Of course, this will be followed at 6:00 by a Community Potluck.  Free and open to all!

Dec 6th Blue Mountain Grange.  Dec 6, 13, 20, 27  - BINGO at 6:00 PM at Blue Mountain Grange Hall

Dec 9th - Grange Christmas Party at the Grange Hall at 6:00 PM - Pot luck Refreshments and a Yankee Swap

Dec. 11th, Capital City Grange, 7:00 to 9:30 PM, Game Night in the Lower Level--come roll dice or move Meeples across boards.  Many games will be available, or feel free to bring your own.   Free and open to all!

Dec 12th Tunbridge Grange 384 is having a holiday Prize Bingo on December 12, 2025 at 6:30 PM at the town hall in Tunbridge, Vermont

Dec 12th For Blue Spruce Grange #574  December 12, 2025 - Our Annual Christmas party and Toy Drive.

Dec. 13th, Capital City Grange, 9:30 to 11:30 PM, Kids Trade & Play, our monthly clothing, games, toys swap for kids and families.  In addition to donations of clean, good-quality pre-worn clothing being accepted, we're especially looking to have games, toys and books in good condition to be re-gifted to those who need them!  Take all that you need, bring what you can.  A donation of $5 is requested per family, but no one is turned away

Dec 13th  Blue Mountain Grange.  Dec 6, 13, 20, 27  - BINGO at 6:00 PM at Blue Mountain Grange Hall

Dec. 14th, Capital City Grange, 3:00 to 4:30 PM, Dance Sing and Jump Around with live music and experienced callers, who will teach dances, songs and play-party games.   Fun for movers and shakers of all ages!  Dances in circles and lines!  Free for kids, $5 donation for grownups is requested, but no one is turned away.  And there are snacks!

Dec 17th Center Grange #290 will meet at 6 pm for a pot luck supper followed by our Christmas party. We will have a Yankees gift swap. Come enjoy the fun!

Dec 20th  Blue Mountain Grange.  Dec 6, 13, 20, 27  - BINGO at 6:00 PM at Blue Mountain Grange Hall

Dec. 20th, Capital City Grange, 4:30 to 6:00 PM, Holiday Sing-Along.  For singers and non-singers of all ages!  Songs led by Matt Nunnelly, who will also accompany on the piano.  We'll project lyrics so that everyone will at least be singing the same words!   It will be followed by a Community Potluck at 6:00 PM.  Free and open to all!  Bring a dish you like to share, or chips, or desserts, or bread, cheese, or something else.

Jan 24 Maple Valley Grange #450  met Nov. 22  at 1 p.m.,at Marion Cubit's home at 1582 Rte  14 North in Albany, Vt/.  They voted to not hold a meeting in December but will meet January  24th2026 at 1 p.m. at Marion Cubit's Home 1482.  We will be discussing more about our Restoration  plans and having events to earn more money for the need to paint the building , replace the Handicap entrance ,Replace the lighting, and investigate a Heating option.  All visitors are Welcome

NOVEMBER 2025

THE WINNER OF THE SPECIAL PRIZE FOR IDENTIFYING THE PICTURE ON THE OCTOBER MONTHLY CALENDAR WAS LOIS WAKEFIELD. 
 It was a picture of a tree in Middlebury, VT in front of the Comfort Inn. 
1st Capital City Grange 4:30 to 6:00 PM:  our monthly Grange meeting will include discussion of State Session, and how our meals operation worked this year.  We'll also be discussing changing our insurance, the beginning of construction of our indoor air quality improvement project, a recent replacement of a freeze-proof faucet, and ways to get more people involved in Grange offices and responsibilities, as some of us keep on getting older, darn it!   The meeting will be followed by a Community Potluck--free and open to all, from 6:00 to 7:00.

th Capital City Grange, 9:30 to 11:30 AM:  Kids Trade & Play provides an opportunity for families to donate and take away clothes, books and games to fit their growing kids.  We ask for a $5 donation per family, but no one is ever turned away.  There also is a selection of women's and maternity clothes.  Families can take as much as they can use!

th Capital City Grange, 3:00 to 4:30 PM:  Dance, Sing & Jump Around is a chance for kids and their adults to have fun together, with experienced callers teaching and leading songs, dances and play-party games.   Any age is welcome, and we encourage parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and caregivers to take part in the fun on the dancefloor.  Admission: kids are free, we ask $5 donation for grownups--but no one is ever turned away.  There's live music, too!  There are snacks at a break, too, and coloring for kids who want a break from the dances.

OCTOBER 2025

October 24th and 25th Vermont State Grange Session at Capital City Grange Hall; Tentative Schedule is on the website. Reports will be available on the website a few days before the session. The password is the current Fourth Degree Annual Word. Information will also be available in the October GMG. Meal reservations ate GREATLY APPRECIATED! See website and further communications via information directors email chain. VERMONT GRANGE CENTER CONDITIONAL ASSESSMENT REPORT which is the report on the Grange Center buildings and projected costs for repairs is on the website for you to review. Please take the time to review it before the session.

3rd Middle Branch October 3 regular meeting at the Octagon, 8:30pm

4th Heart of Vermont Pomona to meet at The Octagon in East Bethel.  10AM.  Pot Luck lunch at noon.

4th Capital City Grange:  4:00 to 4:30, brief monthly meeting, followed by 5:00 to 6:00 a Community Program on Natural Burial in Vermont, starting with a short (20 minutes) documentary:  "From Earth to Earth:  the Lost Art of Dying in America".  Following that, there will be a Q&A and discussion with Michelle Hogle Acciavatti, Founder of the VT Forest Cemetery in Roxbury.  Michelle is known to be a great presenter, able to discuss the hard questions with flashes of humor and insight.  The program will be followed by our famed Grange Community Potluck, where we'll have a chance to continue discussions stimulated by the program--and to share tasty dishes!

10th  Blue Spruce Grange - regular meeting on 10/10/2025  

11th Capital City Grange:  9:30 to 11:30 AM, families can come to Kids Trade & Play, our monthly clothing exchange for kids and families--plus other kid stuff to play with and enjoy, and to take home.   $5 per family requested donation--but no one turned away.  We'll accept donations of good quality kids clothing, infant to Junior 12 at the exchange.

11th Middle Branch October 11 Annual Chicken Pie Supper at 5pm at Our Lady of the Angels Parish Hall, 43 Hebard Hill Rd, Randolph

12th Capital City Grange:  3:00 to 4:30 PM:  We start the season of our "family dance" event, Dance, Sing & Jump Around.  Kids and their adults can enjoy traditional dances, songs, play-party games and more fun in our Hall--and we serve snacks half-way through!   There will be a live band, and all dances, songs and games are taught by our kid-friendly callers.

16th Bomoseen Valley Grange will  have a regular meeting at 6.30 in bomoseen.  While new Horizon Pomona not sure will be changing or canceling due to state grange on thursday

17th & 18th In October, join Guilford Center Stage, a project of Broad Brook Grange #151, for thrilling theater entitled “Agatha!” featuring a pair of one-act Agatha Christie mysteries. These will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday, October 17, and Saturday, October 18, and again 2 p.m. Sunday, October 19, at the Broad Brook Community Center (BBCC), 3940 Guilford Center Rd., Guilford. The BBCC is home to this subordinate Grange.   The first—“Yellow Iris”—was originally scripted by Christie as a radio play featuring the character Hercule Poirot. The other featuring Miss Marple is “The Thumb of St. Peter”—adapted from an Agatha Christie short story by Springfield, VT, playwright and director Miles Ledoux.
Looking forward to November, we will be making preparations for our Free Thanksgiving feast for our community held the Saturday before Thanksgiving.

24-25th Oct. 24-25, Capital City Grange:   We look forward to welcoming Vermont Grange members for the VSG Annual Session at our Hall.   We can use more volunteer help with preparing, serving and cleaning up after lunches on Friday and Saturday, and dinner on Friday.  Please contact Tim Swartz:  [email protected] to sign up!

14th July 14   Evening Star Grange meets for their yearly picnic at the Grange.  6:00 pm.  Grange will provide hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks, bring a side dish or dessert.  Let Larry or Sallie know if you need a ride.

th Going into July we have a Pot Luck with kerioki on the 19th of July, celebrating the 4th even if it is a little late. We are chilling out until the Ice Cream Social next month. Our Grange meetings are the 2nd and 4th Thursdays every month, beginning at 7:00 P.M.  (Bridgewater)

August 2 Aug. 2, 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Capital City Grange Barbecue/Potluck/Picnic--put it on your calendar!  Our annual outdoor (weather permitting) cook-out and picnic in the parking lot!   Live music by the Senior Jazz Ensemble, burgers (meat and meat-less) plus hot dogs grilled before your eyes, buns and condiments, plus ice cream will be provided by the Grange.   Bring your favorite side dish/appetizer/salad/dessert to share!   We'll use the Grange's vintage dishes (melamine can be vintage, right?) and tableware.   We hope you will join us!  If the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll use the fully accessible Lower Level, but we hope our string of nice weather will hold!

August 2 Aug. 2, 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Capital City Grange Barbecue/Potluck/Picnic--put it on your calendar!  Our annual outdoor (weather permitting) cook-out and picnic in the parking lot!   Live music by the Senior Jazz Ensemble, burgers (meat and meat-less) plus hot dogs grilled before your eyes, buns and condiments, plus ice cream will be provided by the Grange.   Bring your favorite side dish/appetizer/salad/dessert to share!   We'll use the Grange's vintage dishes (melamine can be vintage, right?) and tableware.   We hope you will join us!  If the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll use the fully accessible Lower Level, but we hope our string of nice weather will hold!

7th June 7, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Capital City Grange will have "Much Cleaning, Much Singing and Much Feasting".  Starting at 10 AM with cleaning the vinyl mats we use to protect our wood floor, and continuing in the afternoon with more deep cleaning throughout the Hall, we plan to get the place cleaned while it's still Spring. We'll have a brief Grange meeting starting at 4:30, where we will celebrate paying off the mortgage loan that the State Grange provided to help us do first big renovation project in 2008!   After that, we'll have our usual June Sing-Along, led by our Musician--everyone is welcome, of course!   After that, we'll have a Community Potluck dinner.

14th June 14, 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, Capital City Grange sponsors Kids Trade & Play in the Lower Level.  It's a great place to trade in the clothes, shoes, books, games and so on that your kids (or our grand-kids, or your nieces and nephews) have outgrown, for some other clean, unripped and unstained versions that fit their new sizes and preferences!   Everything is sorted by size, so it's easy to browse the many choices.   Kids are very welcome, and there's a toy area if they'd like to play.  We ask for a $5 donation per family, but we never turn anyone away.   You and your family can take as much as you can use!  
18th June 18th, Center Grange #290 will hold a regular meeting at 7pm. Legislative committee will be in charge of Lecturer’s program. Reminding everyone to get reports done & get Lecturer’s contests in so she can have them for her report as well.

3rd 4:30 PM, Capital City will have our monthly meeting--combined with our version of the Cooking Contest! We will have some local celebrity judges to help us "objectively" determine winners, with prizes to be enjoyed.   We'll also be making plans for a "spring cleanup" day on Saturday, June 1, before our meeting, and for a sing-along to happen that day as well. Our potluck will start at 6:00, and we look forward to trying out the cobbler samples there as well!

5th Capital City Grange:  4:30--brief informal Grange meeting.  5:00 to 6:00:  "Spring Flowers on the Appalachian Trail"  Phyllis Rubenstein, a long-time Grange supporter will show pictures and tell us about seeing spring flowers as she hiked the "AT" starting on April 15, 2023 from Springer Mountain in Georgia.  She followed the advent of spring as she hiked north.  Join us in person, or via Zoom--see the link on the event listing on our website Calendar.  The program will be followed by our Community Potluck from 6:00 to 7:00.

13th Capital City Grange:  3:00 to 4:30 PM:  Join us for our last Dance, Sing and Jump Around of our winter season!  Live music, with local fiddle teacher Joanne Garton leading her students to play for line and circle dances, plus songs and play-party games, taught by Liz Benjamin, Stan Carlson and Alice Smolinsky!   FREE for kids, $5 donation requested for adults (but no one is ever turned away).  Snacks too!

14th Evening Star Grange Business meeting and refreshments 6:30 pm. 

16th 7pm Center #290 will hold their Evaluation meeting. Come help fill our chairs as we usually don’t get very many. Our last meeting was canceled due to Brother Dwayne Gibbs having been in the hospital. It was to be our baking contest so we will hold that as well at the evaluation. Caledonia #9 is planning a series of workshops we are calling Second Sundays that will be focused on agricultural themes. We will be starting in the spring and run through the summer and fall of 2025.  We will have more details about the topics and dates after our February meeting.
One of our members also has two young musician sons and we are planning for the Grange to host a number of different music events based on a different musical genre for each event.  Local musicians will be invited to perform at the different events.  Thanks,  Rob MacLeod  President

1st- Feb. 1, Capital City Grange:   4:30 PM  Brief, informal Grange meeting, followed at 5:00 PM:  Free "Hands-Only CPR" and AED training, provided by the American Heart Association.  This training is open to all ages, and no pre-registration is required.  This will give you the basic tools to save lives, by keeping someone alive after a heart attack.   The trainer combines video and live training, and will provide training dummies on which to do hands-on practice.  The training will be followed at 6:00 PM by our monthly Community Potluck!

February 1 Middle Branch will be selling baked goods at the Cabin Fever Bazaar at VTC. The event is from 10am - 3pm.

1st- Heart of Vermont Pomona will meet at Norwich..Saint Barnabas Church at 10AM.  After the meeting is our usual pot luck lunch.  There are plans to have at least 1 and maybe 2 legislators present for the Legislative Program.  If you need directions, please contact me (Lois) or Lester Gibbs.

9th Feb 9, Capital City Grange:  3:00 PM to 4:30 PM:  Dance, Sing & Jump Around.   The second event in our Family Weekend activities, bring a kid or kids of any age, but especially 3 to 8 year olds to enjoy fun play-party games, dances and songs taught by experienced teachers!   We provide a snack break, too!   Kids are free, we ask for a $5 donation for adults.   Happy to have parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends join in too.   We always have live string-band music.


9th February 9 Middle Branch Grange will meet at Riverside Grange at 1pm. Middle Branch will confer the 3rd degree and Riverside will do the 4th degree. All are welcome.

Feb. 10  - Evening Star meets at 6:30 pm.  Dues are due.  Also, need to choose dates for doing a summer coffee stop fundraiser at Guilford Welcome Center. 

11th Feb 11:  Business Meeting & Annual Corporation Meeting  - 7:30pm at the Grange  Hall (Blue Mountain)


15th On February 15th, we will be having our Valentine's Pot Luck. Everyone is invited to come and bring your favorite dish to share. Starts at 6:00 P.M. We will be having music.
Maybe another Bingo on the 22nd. not quite sure, sometimes i do not get everything that is going on.  (Bridgewater)

21st February 21 Middle Branch regular meeting at 8pm. This will be the baking contest.

25th Feb 25:  Program at the Grange Hall - 7:30pm - Guest speaker from McIndoe Academy - speaking about the Academy’s Programs and Visions  for the community  (Blue Mountain)

3rd January 3 Middle Branch Grange regular meeting at the octagon. 8:30pm.

4th Jan. 4, Capital City Grange: 4:30 to 6:00 PM: we open the 2025 year of Grange meetings with a full meeting on ways to improve our Grange, including ways to encourage new members to take on responsibilities. Followed by a Community Potluck from 6 to 7:00 PM in the Lower Level (accessible to all with our wheelchair lift).

11th Jan. 11, Capital City Grange, 9:30 to 11:30 AM, our monthly Kids Trade & Play clothing/games/books exchange. If you know families with kids, or have some yourself, they are probably growing and in need of new, larger versions. We have them for kids from newborns to Junior 10-12,
plus some maternity & women's clothes. Take all that you can use--we ask for a $5 donation per family, but never turn anyone away.

11th Bridgewater Grange has 2 Bingo nights coming up. On January 11, 2025 and January 25, 2025. Both begin at 6:15 P>M> Doors open at 5:30. All are welcome. We have hot dogs and grill cheeese, and other sides and desserts.

12th Jan. 12, Capital City Grange: 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM: Bring your kids (or borrow someone else's--with their permission!) and come to the Capital City Grange to Dance, Sing & Jump Around! Live music, and fun dances in lines and circles, plus singing games and some jumping around! All games and dances taught step-by-step. We'll have some snacks, and a coloring area for those who want to take a break. Especially for 3-8 year olds, but everyone can come and dance. FREE for kids, we ask $5 per person for adults, but no one is ever turned away.

12th 1/12 New horizon Pomona will have a dues paying potluck luncheon at 1 pm at bomoseen Valley grange hall with Jr and youth program at 2 pm

16th Bomoseen Valley Grange will hold dues paying potluck dinner with the jr and youth program at 6 pm
17th Jan., Capital City Grange: 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM, we're hosting our next Red Cross Blood Drive. Set up an appointment by going to: https://www.redcrossblood.org/, or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment by phone.

1st Dec. 1, 2:30 to 4:30 PM, Capital City Grange: Holiday Sing-A-Long to celebrate the holiday season, free and open to everyone. Matt Nunnelly, Grange Musician, will play piano accompaniment and lead the singing for all kinds of seasonal songs. He'll take your requests, too; we'll have lyrics projected for everyone to see for a lot of them! Bring some cookies to share if you can!

2nd December 2 Mountain/Valley Pomona pot luck Christmas Party at Bartonsville Grange. Eat at 6;30. If you want to participate in Yankee Swop, bring a gift to exchange not to exceed $10 in value.

6th December 6, Middle Branch Grange regular meeting plus Membership Awards. 8:30pm at the Octagon.

​6th Tunbridge grange 384 is having a holiday prize bingo at the Tunbridge

7th Heart of Vermont Pomona will meet for their December meeting and holiday program at the Church on Scott Hill in Berlin 10AM. Bring holiday food for the pot luck lunch.

7th Dec. 7, 5:00 to 6:00 PM: Capital City Grange--our bi-monthly Community Program features Allison Levin, founder of "Community Harvest of Central VT". This non-profit organizes volunteers to glean left-over produce from the fields of local farmers, passing it on to community Food Shelves, senior centers, community meals programs, the VT Food banks and many more. They save hundreds of thousands of pounds of food to feed food-insecure people all around Central Vermont. Allison will talk about how she started gleaning, and how it has grown and developed over the years. And she'll tell us how to volunteer! This program will be preceded by a brief Grange meeting starting at 4:30, and will be followed by a Community Potluck in our (fully accessible) Lower Level from 6:00 to 7:00.

7th Tunbridge grange 384 on December 7 we are having a craft sale from 10 to 3.

7th Kingdom Pomona will have there next meeting on Feb 7, 2025 on zoom.

8th 12/8 new horizon Pomona Christmas party at 2pm In bomoseen grange hall

8th Dec. 8, 3:00 to 4:30 PM: Capital City Grange--our monthly (in the cold months) event for kids and their adults: Dance, Sing & Jump Around! Free for kids, $5 for adults (but no one is ever turned away), this is a chance to have fun with other families. Liz Benjamin teaches simple dances and songs for the group to enjoy--including chances for everyone to jump around! Snacks provided, and there's a Coloring Corral for those who want a break from the group. It's a fun way to spend an afternoon.

9th Evening Star Grange will have their pot luck Christmas Party at the hall at 6:00 pm for hors d'oerves and meal by 6:30. If you want to participate in a Yankee Swop, please bring a gift marked for man or woman for no more than $10 in value.

13th Blue Spruce Activities for December 2024 Annual Christmas Party on Friday, December 13, 2024

14th Dec. 14, 9:30 to 11:30 AM: Capital City Grange--our monthly Kids Trade & Play exchange of kids clothing, gear, toys, games and books will take place in our Lower Level. We have lots of clean, un-ripped and un-stained clothes, inspected and sorted by size, ready for families to take home. If you have it, we ask for a $5 donation per family, but no one is turned away. Boots and shoes, winter coats--get ready for the winter season! Donations of clothing, etc. can be brought during the event.
